EXPLORATIONS IN MACRO PHOTOGTAPHY

One of the things that drew me into photography was the ability to capture images that were extremely close up. It is like a journey into another world. Being able to take these photos doesn’t require a lot of expensive gear, just some patience and the ability to combine the right lens for the job. Purchasing a mirrorless digital camera with the option to change lenses really opened things up for me. It allowed me to use the lenses that were part of my film camera kit. With a few adapters, even old cine lenses found a place in my camera bag.  I really enjoy the look of the old glass and being able to combine a lens that is nearly a century old with a modern digital camera is rewarding.

Chicago Breweries

Before I even knew the word epicure, I have always taken pleasure in food and drinks. While working through my college years, I have had the fortune to work in the beverage industry.  Being able to try new selections from around the world sparked my imagination and set me on a path to discover new offerings in wine, beer, and spirits.  This journey began in the early 1990’s. Back then, there were only a handful of stores, bars, and restaurants that offered these selections, let alone actual breweries.  As more breweries popped up in Chicago, I have been able to visit some of these locations and document their work. These are a sample of what happens behind the scenes and all the effort that it takes to bring us this remarkable product.
